문제의 광고는 “5월13일, 캘리포니아엔 단 한명의 멕시코인도 없을 것이다- 확인 www.adaywithoutamexican.com”이라는 해괴한 내용이었다. 그렇지 않아도 불법 라티노 이민자들에 대한 주정부의 각종 법안이 논쟁거리가 되고 있는 가운에 이 의문스런 광고는 5월13일 개봉하는 <멕시코인이 없는 하루>(A Day without a Mexican)의 홍보용이었던 것으로 밝혀졌다.
